In a small bedroom, the best piece of furniture is the one that lets the rest of the room work. If you are furnishing an apartment in Mijas or La Cala, begin with the space you use to get out of bed, dress and open the wardrobe. Choose the furniture around those routines.
The catalogue photographs below illustrate different ideas. They are not measured examples of small rooms or completed MÁXIMO client projects; your own layout needs to follow your floor plan.
Draw the whole bed, not just the mattress
Check the external dimensions of the bed frame and headboard. A mattress may fit against a wall while the complete bed narrows the walkway or covers a socket. Include the door swing, window position and any columns or projections in your drawing.
Before ordering, mark the bed's footprint on the floor with paper or tape suitable for the surface. Walk around both sides as you would on an ordinary morning. If two people share the room, check that each can get in and out without moving a bedside table. Our guide to measuring your home for furniture helps you prepare that first plan.
Choose a wardrobe you can comfortably use
Sliding doors avoid a door swinging out towards the bed, but they do not automatically solve access to internal drawers or hanging space. Hinged doors offer a different way to reach the contents, provided there is room to open them. Compare both options with the bed marked out, rather than in an empty room.

If your existing wardrobe already provides enough storage, another chest may be unnecessary. List what still needs a home first. Our bedroom storage guide explores how to divide those jobs between different pieces.
Two sides of the bed can have different needs
Your bedside tables do not have to be the same width. An asymmetric room may suit a narrow piece on one side and more storage on the other. Check that each surface is within comfortable reach and that a lamp, phone or book can sit there without taking up the walkway.
Locate the sockets before selecting the headboard. An attractive arrangement becomes less useful if it leaves cables crossing the room. For help bringing the pieces together, read our headboard and bedside table guide.

Planning your bedroom in Mijas
Bring a measured sketch, photographs of all four walls and the dimensions of any furniture you are keeping. Tell us what feels awkward now: a drawer that will not open, a tight walkway or a bedside surface you cannot reach. That is a more useful starting point than choosing an entire setting from a photograph.
At MÁXIMO, furniture and interiors on the Costa del Sol, we can explore your selection through our interior design service in Mijas.
